Bristol County Gas and Electric talks offer a contract plan

The Bristol County Gas and Electric Company and Town Council debate funding and control of lighting. Proposal calls for a long term nonexclusive contract with night lighting up to one o'clock, pricing for arc and incandescent lights, wholesale and retail rates, and two percent gross revenue to the town, plus future terms for public buildings and preserved town privileges. The piece notes possible mutual suggestions and a search for a middle ground while quoting President Gibson. It also includes a Newport Herald aside on women carrying pocketbooks and a census of inmates across state institutions and a note on Christmas shopping season.
