Oyster Bed Raiders To Be Tried In Common Pleas
The three raiders of oyster beds owned by Martin Dewing and E B Blount of Barrington Samuel Stringer John W Lewis and George Joyner are to be tried in the Common Pleas Division of the Supreme Court next Monday. Petit jurors named James T Phelps Thomas Duffy Leonard Sanford Mark A DeW Howe Carkerstein James Ashton Robert P Barclay William H Farrall Harry H Cabot and Robert Connery are to appear. Lewis remains in jail on $1000 bail while the others are out on bail. The raid occurred Sept 21 with 10 bushels seized aboard the Beerfoam. Oysters beds are being robbed still. locals urge a steam patrol boat and night watchers.
