Warning Issued On Theft of Roadside Greens
Rhode Island officials warn that it is illegal to dig up or transport plants from private land without written landowner permits. The law covers trailing arbutus holly white pine red cedar and other greens. Violations carry fines from 1000 to 5000 per offense. Citizens are urged to obtain permits before gathering greens and to cooperate with enforcement officers.
