With both bidders quoting identical figures, the Taft School oil burner contract was awarded by lot. Maisano Brothers and F J Murphy bid 285 dollars. Murphy won after a hat draw overseen by Supt. Edward J. Fitzgerald. The contract includes a high pressure gun type burner a 275 gallon tank and a one year guarantee.

Bristol Pension Committee met with Town Treasurer William H. Angevine and Superintendent Edw J. Fitzgerald to discuss strengthening the Teachers Retirement Fund as income from investments declines. William H. Streit, longtime Bristol County Water Co. manager since 1943, is promoted to Terre Haute Water Works in Indiana. F. P. Stradling of East St. Louis will succeed him. Streit's leadership followed 1944 hurricane improvements and he will relocate with his wife and three children. Stradling, with 29 years in the company, has headed Kokomo and East St. Louis operations and will train before Streit leaves in January.

Bristol students took part in a Friday night stunt show at R L C E College of Education. The four classes performed self written plays with original music. Frances Anne Doyle from Bristol Senior High School won first prize in the freshmen group. Her sister Joan, a junior at R L C E, wrote and directed the junior class play and played piano.
