Virginia Leahy Stars In New England Conservatory Student Recital

Bristol soloist Virginia Leahy presented three Brahms pieces at the New England Conservatory in Boston on a Thursday recital. Howard Goding, a noted pianist and Conservatory faculty member, was unable to perform due to a death in his family and Leahy, with two of his pupils, substituted on the broadcast from Station WAAB the previous Tuesday. The performance received wide New England notice.

Post 6 American Legion met at its Franklin Street headquarters. Fred E. Garvin reported financials and the Armistice Day committee report was approved. Norman Herreshoff and John W. Twee Jr. to Sea Scout advisory. Charles E. Burns summarized the past year's activities. Joseph Marshall named Sons of the Legion officer. A $2 Red Cross donation and a $5 health bond purchase were approved. Community service citation received from national headquarters.

Riverside trio goes missing on fishing trip returns safe

Three Riverside men Donald Benoit William Stone and Gustave Leonard set out for Prudence Island on a fishing trip. Their motor failed near Potters Cove leaving them stranded overnight with no food. They were rescued when the Commodore towed the missing boat to Riverside Saturday evening after search efforts by authorities.

Altar Society Elects Officers At Mt Carmel Church

The Altar Society of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church will elect officers for the coming year at a meeting this evening in the Parish Hall. A new officer slate will be presented by chairlady Mrs Lena Perroni and committee including Mrs Phyllis Spaghetti Miss Madeline Cortellesa and Miss Etta Pirry. Bristol town officials announced receipt of a final federal payment of 7434.24 dollars on the sewage disposal project totaling 31656.34 dollars.
