Howard Goding, a noted pianist and Conservatory faculty member, was unable to perform due to a death in his family and Leahy, with two of his pupils, substituted on the broadcast from Station WAAB the previous Tuesday. The performance received wide New England notice.

Riverside trio goes missing on fishing trip returns safe
Three Riverside men Donald Benoit William Stone and Gustave Leonard set out for Prudence Island on a fishing trip. Their motor failed near Potters Cove leaving them stranded overnight with no food. They were rescued when the Commodore towed the missing boat to Riverside Saturday evening after search efforts by authorities.
