Bakery Truck Crashes Into Church Porch on Church Street
A runaway bakery truck owned by Arnold’s Bakery rolled from a nearby lot on Church Street and crashed into the porch of St. Michael’s rectory causing heavy property damage but injuring no one. The vehicle gained speed after the emergency brake failed and knocked a typewriter from a table inside the rectory. Canon Parshley witnessed the incident from the library porch area and described the tremor as earthquake like. The porch sustained more damage than the truck and a coffee car in front narrowly avoided impact.
