Rear Admiral John Richard Edwards U S N retired died at his home 620 Hope Street early Saturday morning after about two weeks of heart trouble He was in his 70s He leaves wife Harriet DeWolf Allen Edwards and four children Major Allen Richard Edwards Mrs Margaret Hammond John R Edwards Jr and Lawrence Edwards Edwards served as President of the Bristol School Committee and Y M C A and led the Brown University Naval Unit during World War I Funeral held at St Michael s Church with Rev Anson B Howard officiating Interment at Juniper Hill Cemetery He was born July 9 1853 in Pottsville Pa and graduated from the Naval Academy in 1874
