War Ration Book One Distribution Directed by Local Boards

Public guidance on who must obtain War Ration Book One and by when. After December 15 boards may stop issuing Book One except for babies born after that date, returnees, and those released from confinement. Identity and address proof rules, special applications for first-time issuers, and penalties for misuse are outlined along with the need to surrender books of armed forces members and deceased holders.

Dimout Regulations Meet With Co operation of People

An honest effort to live up to the Dimout Regulations as established by the War Department was noted last evening as the dimout was put into effect for the first time. Householders drew curtains and porch lights were out. Some storefronts used 15 watt bulbs or extinguished signs. Automobile headlights were taped or painted black though some remained untreated. Street lights stayed on while shields for all lights are arranged to be installed within a month.

APC-9 slid down the ways at the Herreshoff Company with Mrs. William A. O Connor christening the vessel. Attending were Lt (jg) and Mrs. French Lt Condr Hayes and C W Haffenreffer among others as the crew took over and the band played. Tomorrow keel laying for another boat of the same class.

Hi-Y Boys to Attend Mass Rhode Island Conference

Bristol Y M C A will send nineteen Hi Y delegates to the Older Boys Conference of Massachusetts and Rhode Island in Springfield Massachusetts. The event spans Friday to Sunday with theme Discovering Christian Certainties and talks by outstanding speakers.

Memorial to George S. Pailthorpe Planned by Parish

Rev A R Parshley announced a memorial to George S Pailthorpe at St Michael's service. A donations committee led by J Winthrop DeWolf will collect gifts from friends. Pailthorpe served the church and school, aided YMCA work, and led St Andrews League activities for four years.

Son's Cablegram Crowns Anniversary

A cablegram from their son in the service was the gift which made a real success of the 26th wedding anniversary party held by Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Osofsky at 20 Catherine Street on Thanksgiving Day. Relatives and friends visited during the day and enjoyed a well prepared dinner. The telegram from their son Jacob gave the finishing touch to a memorable day.
