Centenarian Mrs Cornelia Munroe To Be 100 On Monday

A Bristol resident Mrs Cornelia Munroe aged 99 will celebrate her hundredth birthday next Monday December 4 at the Home for Aged Women on Franklin street. Born December 4 1816 in Providence she is the widow of John F Munroe and previously John H Slade. She has two children Charles and Frederick Slade with Charles living in Providence and employed in directory work for 47 years. Her grandson and three great grandchildren survive. She attends St Michael's Church Bristol and plans visits from friends between 2 and 5 pm due to recent indisposition.

Big Game in Africa Lecture by Dr Ramon Guiteras

Dr Ramon Guiteras of Bristol and longtime New York surgeon spoke at the Y M C A on his African big game hunting experiences from seven or eight years ago. He shared colored views of the landscape natives and game as part of an entertaining and instructional talk. President Edwards thanked him and the speaker replied that helping Bristol friends gave him pleasure.

Resignations From State Harbor Commission And Inland Fisheries

Governor Beeckman accepts Nathaniel G. Herreshoff's resignation from the State Harbor Commission and Isaac Clarke's from the Commissioners of Inland Fisheries. Herreshoff appointed Nov 13 1915 to succeed Alfred W. Kenyon. term expires Jan 31. Clarke appointed Aug 18 1910 to succeed Henry T. Root. term runs until 1918. Successors likely named at January General Assembly session.

Bristol Y M C A workers finished a five day drive with 318 new members, far surpassing the 200 goal. The Peerless team led by George Pailthorpe added 21 members for the day, supper was provided by church ladies, and officials praised the effort as well above average. Percy James McCarthy and Myrtle Lufftin were united in marriage at St Marys Church on a Wednesday morning. Rev. Thomas J. Gillan officiated with a large gathering of relatives and friends. The couple will live on Charles Street after a wedding trip to New York City.

Bristol Scouts Triumph 18-0 Over North Providence on Common

First Bristol Troop Rhode Island Boy Scouts defeated North Providence Troop 18 to 0 on the common yesterday morning. The North Providence team left to catch a train before full time, as three twelve minute periods were played with Bristol scoring a touchdown in every period. Bristol will face the 400 Club Juniors of East Providence tomorrow afternoon on the common.
