Needs for 25 000 Women Drive for Student Nurses Today
A nationwide push begins for 25 000 young women aged 19 to 35 to enroll in the United States Student Nurse Reserve. The campaign, led by Alfred Merramem and Miss Bertha Wyatt, appeals to join training in civilian hospitals or Army Nursing School starting July 29 1918 to April 1 1919 to aid war effort and protect home front health.

Bristol Boys Honored as Lieutenants
Thomas A. Dwyer and John P. Murphy, after completing training at Camp Lee Virginia, were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. Both are home on furlough and ordered to report to the Twelfth Division U S Infantry at Camp Devens next Thursday. Dwyer, son of the city police chief, was a foreman at National India Rubber Company. Murphy, a Bristol and St Marys TA S baseball pitcher, also worked at the same rubber plant before service.
