Ever Ready Fire Company Outing At Mt Hope Bay Highlights

The Ever Ready Fire Company No 2 held a Sunday outing and clam bake at Ferrycliffe Farm Mt Hope Bay with about 100 attendees including 20 Vigilant Fire Company guests. A baseball game 5 to 4 favored Appenaug guests and numerous events followed dinner at 3:30 pm with winners named in multiple races and contests.

Sunday School Picnic At St Michaels Church Party

Pupils and teachers from St Michaels Sunday School joined about 75 people for a Saturday outing to Mt Hope Bay. They traveled by auto mobiles and enjoyed games and a basket luncheon on the shore. Veterans Visit Rhode Island Soldiers' Home Program

Veterans at the Rhode Island Soldiers' Home enjoyed an afternoon program by the Soldiers' Home Committee of the Woman's Relief Corps including music readings and a guard drill by the Women's Benefit Association of Providence. Gifts honored Civil War and Spanish War veterans, with remarks by Mrs Susan M Sheple and Mrs Josephine Pearson, and performances by Emma Potter Louise Carroll Ruth Carlisle and others.

Annual Appeal for LeBaron Colt Ambulance Fund

Bristol residents are urged to donate to the LeBaron C Colt Memorial Ambulance Fund. The drive runs through Sept 1 with Tag Day at the National India Rubber Company factory Aug 31 and on-street tag sales Sept 1. The fundraiser supports ongoing ambulance service, with 1488 calls answered since inception and 1927 28 expenses topping $2200 this year.

Jimmie Salzano, 15, Bristol, was second in 3 hours 15 minutes, Emma Lennon of Riverside was the top girl in 3 hours 32 minutes. Witherill Wins Fischer Cup at Excelsior Junior Tennis

Carl Witherill, 16, captured the first William M. Fischer Cup in Bristol County junior tennis by defeating Richmond Maxwell of Warren in straight sets 9-7 6-2 6-4. The Bristol County Junior Champion title goes to the town’s young star after a challenging final. The Fischer cup requires two wins to claim ownership.

Bristol Team Runs Past New Bedford 7 1 on Common

Frankie Sousa fired a fast ball for Bristol to beat the Silver Wings of New Bedford 7 to 1 in Whaling City Twilight League action on the common. Sousa allowed five hits as Bristol collected 13 hits off Hayes and others through six frames before Rick's club added four runs in the final inning.
