The funeral for Mrs Rose Arrone 75 widow of Joseph Arrone Sr was held after a Mass at Mt Carmel Church. She was born in Amalfi Italy April 9 1875 and came to the United States 44 years ago residing in Bristol. She is survived by three sons six daughters a sister 26 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Grandchildren served as bearers and Holy Rosary Society members attended. Burial followed at St Mary Cemetery with a committal service by Father Sarzano.
The funeral for 43 year old Joseph Gomes Carreira was held at the San Sone Funeral Home in Bristol. A solemn Mass of requiem followed at 9 in St Elizabeth's Church with Rev Henrique Rocha as celebrant and several deacons and pallbearers from Gloucester, East Providence, and Bristol. Burial was in St Mary's Cemetery with committal prayers.
John F Madeiro aged 79 of 431 Wood Street Bristol died Sunday after a long illness at Truesdale Hospital Fall River He was born in St Michael Azores son of Manuel and Emilia Madeiro He came to Bristol in 1904 worked years in the calendar room at National India Rubber Co Bristol retiring in 1930 He is survived by wife Maria Bonova Correira Madeiro a son Joseph a daughter Mrs Mary Almeida a brother Antone Madeira 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren Funeral tomorrow.
The Bristol Garden Club will host its annual picnic at Mrs. George A. Lyon’s Ferry Hill home on Wednesday August 23rd at 12 noon Members will bring basket lunches The club recently joined Little Compton Garden Club members and heard Mrs Le Roy of Rumford and Mrs Le Roy Elder describe blending flowers with wallpaper upholstery and draperies to elevate room decor.
