St Alban's Lodge Annual Field Day and Clam Bake

The St Alban's Lodge No. 6 F and A M held its annual field day and clam bake at the Newport Agricultural Society fair in Portsmouth with about 200 attendees including Hope Chapter and the Order of the Eastern Star. Events featured base ball, tug of war, quoits, races for men and women, and prizes such as a box of cigars and thermos bottles. The day concluded with a gathering organized by Reginald Dimond and committee members.

Bristol Swimmers Enter Rocky Point Warren Race

Mach interest is shown by local swimmers for a Sunday afternoon match from Rocky Point to Town Beach Warren weather permitting. Silver prizes awarded to both men and women in first second and third places. Warren regiments act as starters and judges. Open to swimmers from any part of New England. Manuel Alnicidge and Mary Mott reputed for speed and endurance. Entry deadline is next Saturday night at 10 o'clock with John Natel of Warren handling entries.

Junior Tennis Tourney Opens at Exelsior Club

Bristol County youths begin a county junior tennis tournament at Exelsior Tennis Club Silver Creek with singles play starting at 9 30 tomorrow. Entries close at 5 this afternoon and drawings are held tonight. A Fischer cup rewards the boys junior singles with a two win rule. The two rounds daily use N S T A rules two out of three sets and finals three out of five. Runners up trophies accompany the cup. Participants include players from Bristol Warren and Barrington.

The Bristol Branch of the United States Volunteer Life Saving Corps report a very successful tag day last Friday raising a good-sized sum. They were assisted by a corps of girls and young women. Last Friday two year old Muriel Sylvia daughter of Frank J Sylvia of Coggesham Avenue Bristol Narrows was guest of honor at a birthday party at Tagaltong Inn summer home of Mrs John D Hill East Providerate. Two Laborers Injured In Explosive Accident

Antonio Garcia and Jack Thomas laborers for Callan Construction Company were injured Friday when dynamite exploded on the job site in the east part of town. A rock shattered by the blast struck the men, who escaped more serious harm as Dr A M Merriman treated shoulder wounds and shock.

Cranston's Blake Battery and Outfit shut out the Soldier Boys 10 to 0 in a Twilight League game on the common. Union Church Band Concert on Prudence Island

The Union Church band plans a Saturday concert with a 2 p.m. Brockton departure for Bristol boarding at 4 p.m. They will play along the shore to Bristol and back to Homestead then perform a two hour set at 7 p.m. Guests may enjoy chowder and sandwiches while a church sale offers food, fancy items, and useful articles.
