Progress on Rogers Free Library Construction Brings Hope

Hazen and Duarte Clear Election Hurdle for School Post
Benjamin Hazen and Francis N Duarte, both independents in Bristol County, have collected the required fifty signatures to run for the school committee. Duarte has 107 valid signers, 57 above minimum, while Hazen has 164 over the needed total after a 37-signature deduction. Most invalid signatures stem from prior party involvement. Democrats account for forty invalids. Both candidates reject partisan endorsements, arguing for a nonpartisan school board. Republicans show tacit support by leaving two school committee spaces open on their ticket. Hazen chairs the Rhode Island Association of School Committees and served Bristol School Committee for ten years. Duarte sits on the Bristol School Committee for six years.
