Nearly one hundred members from Hydraulion Dreadnaught Defiance and Ever Ready fire companies plus invited guests attended a Sunday clambake at Leahy Farm near Mt Hope Bay. The event featured games, sports, a clam chowder lunch, and a Rhode Island style bake with Jim Munro’s dug dish and fixings. Manuel Foster alias Faustino, 20, of 8 Bourne Avenue, was held in Providence Sixth District Court on three charges from Providence police. He faced counts of carrying a revolver in a car, possession and transport of liquor, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended operator’s license. Bail set at 5000 dollars. trial scheduled for September 28. A pistol and moonshine were found in the car after police halted him at Gano and Wickenden streets. His license had been suspended since June after two prior charges and a getaway from a Wood Street incident earlier this year.

Joseph Chinder of Bristol, the town's only licensed aviator, won a 15 mile cross country race Saturday afternoon. He completed the course from Providence airport through East Providence, Barrington, Warren, North Swansea Massachusetts, and back to the airport in 12 minutes 48 seconds piloting an Aeronco motored Wright monoplane.
