Chamber Nominates Finger and Connery for Chamber Officers

Albert Finger and Charles M. Connery were placed in nomination for president and vice president of the Chamber of Commerce. Other officers nominated include Morris Caizzi as second vice president Ella O Millard as treasurer Herbert Eisenstadt as secretary and board nominees Charles D Alessio Mrs Margaret O’Brien David J Ferris August Gibbemeyer Sol M Kaiman. The nominating committee led by Mrs O’Brien suggested adding one board member. The chamber voted to act as selling agent for Grotto Circus tickets. Dick Sullivan promoted the circus spoke at the meeting. Mrs Millard said the Bristol visitors guide is now in circulation. R S Bosworth Jr urged ideas for a permanent Race Week in Bristol.

Dedicate Beach Building Sept 9 at town beach room

The St Louis J Romano Room in the new administration building at the town beach will be dedicated Sunday Sept 9 at 2 p.m. The room was donated by Deputy Sheriff and Mrs John Romano for their son who was killed in World War II. A bronze plaque will be placed on the wall and a speaking program is planned.

Pigeon to Attend Republican National Convention as Alternate

Roger W. Pigeon of 1277 Hope Street, a member of the local Republican town committee, will attend the Republican National Convention in San Francisco next week as an alternate delegate. He is manager of the Atlantic Refining Company real estate department in Providence and is taking a real estate appraisal course at USC August 6 to 18. He has visited his San Mateo-based brother Frank B. Pigeon. his brother-in-law Carl Barchman is a convention delegate from West Virginia.

Old-Timers Defeat Youths In Jimmy Fund Game

Bristol old-time baseball greats edged the younger stars 4 to 3 at the Common last night for the Jimmy Fund. Lou Massano pitched the winners to victory. John Pasqual took the loss. Top hitters were Bob Leahy for the losers with a triple and Jose Parisi for the winners with a single and a double. Mrs. Alice Bell Morgan chaired at plate with help from Capt. William I. Baker Jr. and others. $45.65 was raised for the Jimmy Fund.
