Firemen Annual Outings Highlight Local Clambakes and Games
Hydraulion and Ever Ready volunteer fire companies held August outings with clambakes at Thrayer farm and Howe Farm Mount Hope Bay. Events included a 9 to 3 baseball win for unarmed men, track events, and prizes donated by Alphonse Vermette. Attendees included civic leaders and fire officials as committees organized athletic contests and a potluck bake.

Bristol Girl Assaulted by Stranger Near Metacom Avenue
Miss Janson a graduate of Colt Memorial Haigh School and daughter of a State Street grocer was assaulted by a man about 22 years old and 5 ft 7 in. He wore a dark brown sweater and fled toward the main road after grabbing her hand and knocking her down. Chief Kelles investigates at Bristol.

Dog Attack Injures Ferrara Boy Trousers Torn
Albert Ferrara aged 16 son of Ernest and Mrs Ferrara of 4 Usher Avenue was bitten by a dog owned by Joseph Campo of Thames Street. Dog Officer John F Powers found the dog licensed and on a leash during the Friday incident. The dog snapped at Albert as he tried to enter a Thames Street store, tearing his trousers but not injuring him.

Portuguese Feast Draws Nearly Two Thousand Participants
The Portuguese community marks the Feast of the Assumption with a Sunday program in Fall River. A laity street parade led by the Acorean Band preceded a high Mass at St Elizabeths Church. Rev Francisco Vieira presided, with Rev Francis Gomes and Rev Joseph Reais assisting. A 2:30 pm procession featured more than 200 children, followed by church services and a sermon by Rev Fr Reis, a Canadian missionary. A band concert closed the day, with committee members named.

Chief Hugh F. Kelley reports no trace of Joseph Svivia alias George Salverman alias George Manikas the farmhand shot in the leg near the DeWolf estate. Investigators confirm Manikas aka Doddo the Greek was identified by Dr Alfred Merriman via photograph and notes on a prior 1925 hijacking incident leaving a severed ear scar in Swansea.

George Sever Jr 18 was fined 10 dollars in the Fifth District Court for operating a motorcycle Aug 10 without a license. his lawyers said he was learning to ride. The Donovan non support case was continued two weeks as Mrs Donovan said her husband could be located in East Providence. Civil actions included Misca versus Barboza for auto damage resulting in a judgment of 8241 to the plaintiff and Russo versus Donato and Aricco yielding a 475 judgment for the plaintiff.
