Funeral services for Guruseppi Giorgio his wife Josephine and son James were held at St Michael's Church with about 250 mourners present. Interment followed at North Cemetery. A fourth victim Ling Tamburro was buried from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with a requiem mass and burial at St Mary's Cemetery.
Members of the Citizens Committee met at Polk farm in Rehoboth to finalize arrangements for a town party on Spr 4 and parade events. A committee was formed to select officers for the coming year and the annual county election is set for September with plans for a September entertainment benefit in October.
Twenty five juniors and 17 seniors have registered for Red Cross swimming tests to be held at the public bath house foot of Burton street next week under Clarence O Anderson of Providence YouCOA. Registration is free and awards will be given upon completion. Four classes will be instructed and examined: beginners swimmers juniors and seniors. Testing runs daily for six days with time slots: Beginners 10 11 am Swimmers 11 12 noon Juniors 1 2 15 pm Seniors 3 4 30 pm. Mothers are urged to find time to bring their children during these sessions.
The river Ready Engine and Hesse Company No 2 sponsor an annual clam bake Sunday afternoon at Ferrycliffe Farm Ferry Road. The event begins at 2 o clock with members leaving Thames Street Fire Hall at 11. Walter Ethier chairs the organizing committee with John Langello as secretary treasurer and committee members Charles Favre Michael Flynn and Albert Rosa handling tasks. Tickets are available from the committee.
Mrs W W Weeden opens a Red Cross headquarters in Bristol to coordinate disaster relief from last Monday. Miss Elizabeth Gorman leads relief work with a committee including Rev Vieira and Henry W Peterson. funds and equipment flow from local donations and national chapters.
At a Wednesday evening gathering in Holmes House the Ivy Guild of St Michaels Church discussed a picnic to be held next Thursday at Mrs Frank Howe on Metacom Avenue. Sunday school members will be guests, and the society voted to contribute to the relief fund for recent local disaster victims.
Bristol County Realty Company transfers land and buildings on the south side of Bay View Avenue to Josephy Mello and heirs. Butterworth and others convey a lot on Fairview Park Plat to James A Munro. Charles R Wood and wife transfer four lots on Charles R Wood Plat to James A Munro. Daniel D Amaral and wife sell land and building on the north side of Pleasant Street to Antonio Silvia and wife.
