Medbury Dies En Route To Hospital After Heart Attack

Howard F. Medbury a 22 year Bristol resident and former National Biscuit salesman died yesterday afternoon while being moved to Truesdale Hospital He was born in Olneyville August 6 1876 and leaves wife Emma Landry Medbury and brother Frank of Barrington Funeral plans are not complete and will be held at Wilbur Chapel Warren.

Company G to Wear New Uniforms for State Guard Drill

The Rhode Island State Guard Second Battalion plans sun tan uniforms with blue ties and belts for Sunday maneuvers at Hope Valley. Lieut Luke H White, public relations officer for Company G Bristol announced the exhibition on bayonet drill. Members report to the State armory foot of Church street at 8 am and will be transported to the maneuvers in private cars.

Doll Carriage Parade to Highlight Jubilee at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel

A doll carriage parade is planned for Sunday afternoon September 6 at Bristol Common as part of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church silver anniversary celebration. Entries for the parade will be received at 2 30 next Tuesday in the parish hall on Congregational street with Mrs Dorothy Ruggiero King as chairperson and helpers Mrs Julia Velleca and Misses Rose Fasano and Mary Malafronte assisting.

Beach Terrace Turkey Supper and Concert for Pier Fund

The Beach Terrace Improvement Association hosted a Tuesday evening turkey supper and lawn concert at Mrs. Alice Bartlett's summer home to raise funds for a future pier. The program featured St Alban's male quartet led by Vernon A. Gray with Col Arthur W. Bartlett, accompanied by Mrs. Frank A Rounds, plus Beach Terrace Choral Society patriotic selections including a Helen W. Church song. Allen Newman and Miss Church performed a duet with Walter Jones, and children at the Terrace joined in song and dance. The Choral Society lists members such as Alice Forsell Rowena Bowen Mary Remington Bernice Mitchell Harriet Rugas Mary McCliver and others.

Altar Society Holds Annual Outing at Crescent Park

Thirty five members of the Altar Society of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church attended the annual outing last night at Crescent Park. They traveled by a chartered bus and enjoyed a sports program followed by a shore dinner. The organizing committee included Mrs Julia Velleca Mrs Joseph Giglio Mrs Josephine Bisbano Mrs Josephine Bruno Lillian Pasquarelli Rose Campanello and Mary Santo ex officio.

Annual Regatta Set for Bristol Yacht Club on August 23

The Bristol Yacht Club announces its annual regatta on Saturday August 23 with 22 racing classes . Prizes award winners in each class and pennants go to seconds in classes with five boats or more and thirds in classes with ten or more. Races follow North American Yacht Racing Union and Narragansett Yacht ing Association handicap rules with One Design classes under their own rules where applicable.

Rotary Club Outing Features Clambake and Softball Game

Bristol Conservation Education Fund Bingo Nets $353.50

Net proceeds from a Tuesday bingo at Linden Place for the Conservation Education Fund of the Wildlife Federation total $353.50, plus $85 from six subscribers, reaching $438 and 62 percent of Bristol’s $706 quota. The money funds natural resources books for Bristol school children in grades 3 to 6, with $93 more needed to cover three of four grades.

Union plans NLRB election at Bristol Manufacturing plant

Portuguese Feast of the Blessed Sacrament Set in Bristol

Portuguese residents of Bristol from the Madeira colony prepare a weekend feast honoring the Blessed Sacrament. Decorations brighten St. Elizabeth's vicinity as concerts run Saturday night by the Portuguese Independent Band and Sunday by the Taunton City Band. Rev. Henrique Rocha to lead services with mass, sermon, benediction, and a Sunday procession. A fireworks display caps the observances with a committee led by John Vasconcellos and officers including Julio Xavier and Firmino Andrade.

Rev Michael L. Ryan pastor of St Marys Church was reappointed chaplain of Bristol Council Knights of Columbus at its meeting in K of C Hall State Street. Grand Knight George T Ingram presided. The Countryside Garden Club met at Mrs Eva Leclerc on Hope Street for a miniature arrangement contest. First prize went to Mrs Sebastian Bernard Jr second to Mrs Charles M Connery. The third prize was a tie between Mrs Madeline Almeida and Mrs William L Serbst.

Bristol Garden Club Wins Ribbon at Barrington Show

Bristol Garden Club earned the blue ribbon in the garden club section at the Barrington Flower Show. President Mrs William W Perry and organizer Mrs Howard Paull arranged an interpretation of Song of Solomon chapters 11 12 and 13 featuring large green grapes in a green container against a black velvet backdrop with a white bird perched above.
