School Committee Elects Two New Staff For Colt Memorial High

At last evening’s meeting Superintendent Des Coudres recommended William C. Jones named sub-master of Colt Memorial High School at 900 a year. Miss Winifred Philleo of LeRoy was elected Household Arts instructor at 700 a year. Harry W. Peterson became Chief Engineer at 1040 a year. Janitors were chosen for Reynolds and Oliver schools, coal supplies set, and a tablet planned for Reynolds in memory of John Post Reynolds. Revised high school course and records system approved by Rhode Island Public Schools Commissioner. Tenants and bills noted. Rev. McCoy absent, has resigned from the committee.

A GOOD APPOINTMENT Dr W Fred Williams Joins State Health Board

Dr W Fred Williams of this town is named by Governor Beeckman to fill the vacancy on the State Board of Health created by Dr Locke s resignation. Williams is praised as an able physician and a valuable Bristol citizen, with a history as district medical examiner and restored health enabling him to serve effectively.

Power boat Ella Clark stolen from Oliver street moor

The 18 foot white power boat Ella Clark owned by Harry C. Munro of High street was stolen late Saturday night or early Sunday from its mooring off Oliver street. Valued at several hundred dollars, the craft has an almost new engine and natural wood cabin. Acting Chief James W. Goff alerted New England coast cities and towns.

Exemption Board Calls 100 Men in Second Session

The Sixth District Exemption Board opened its second session at the Y M C A gymnasium at 9 am. One hundred men are to be examined today, another 100 tomorrow, and 50 Thursday. The board has already granted 191 exemptions, mostly for aliens, with more first-call cases to be settled this week. A lengthy list follows naming Bristol and nearby residents exempted or discharged from U S military service.
