Edmund Searle Rex a Harvard Law School graduate died suddenly after resting on a Bristol Highlands community court bench. Medical examiner ruled natural causes. He was a Republican campaign leader for Wendell Wilkie in the area and served in WWI and the RI National Guard Air Service. He leaves wife Marion and daughter, and several siblings. Funeral Thursday at St Stephen's Providence with burial Swan Point.
St Elizabeth's parish plans a two day Blessed Sacrament celebration with a Saturday parade sermon band concert on Wood Street. Sunday features Holy Name Society communion breakfast high mass sermons a 3 o clock sermon procession and Benediction followed by a Portuguese Independent Club Band concert.
The Bristol playground staff hosts the seventh annual animal and pet show at the common tomorrow at 2 p m with awards for humor, best dogs and cats, smallest and largest pets, and most unusual entries. Judges include Mrs. Vincent M Securo and two others.
Neil J. Aronne 20 of 102 Constitution Street left for U S Army service voluntered for duty after two years at Providence College studying political science and RO TC member. He served with the 479th Chemical Service Bn reserve unit commanded by Lt Col Matthew Capone and worked as a Bristol state house page while in college. He graduated Bristol Senior High School in 1950 and played football in school.
C and A officials predict a CIO victory in the upcoming NLRB election at Bristol and West Barrington plants. They cite past closures and plant moves, while TWUA CIO leaders claim overwhelming support for union representation among C&A employees. Ballots close with results expected by evening. tensions arise over management tactics and worker concerns.

Frank S. Abate was elected president of the Wood Street Social Club at a Sunday meeting. Matthew Squatrito became vice president, Joseph Squatrito secretary, and Emile J Ferrara treasurer.
St Marys Church to hold first outing in years at St Columbans Seminary from noon to 6 pm. Town Moderator David J Ferris serves as general chairman with Mrs Ferris and Mrs Barbara Cordeiro as officers. Event features ham and potato salad dinner, games, and multiple booths open to all residents.
The Wearwick All-Stars, AL champions, face Fall River Federal League All-Stars at Veterans Park in a 5:30 p.m. Little League final to decide who represents the A. I. Southern Massachusetts area in the Region Two tournament in Woburn, Mass. Warwick captured the Rhodeek crown with a 41 win while Bristol topped Burrillville Gloucester 4 3 in the consolation game.
The last Bristol baseball hopes fell Sunday at McGay Stadium Pawtucket as Kearney Post defeated Bristol 6 to 1 in the decisive third game of the best of three for the state Junior American Legion title. Art Quirk and Joe Cavallaro pitched for Bristol. Kennedy-Collins Post posted five hits and rode solid defense to the victory.
