Not Yet Arrested Victim in Saloon Killing at Mala Fronte

Ferdinand Vaccaro, alleged shooter of Francisco Randa in Luigi Mala fronte saloon at Wood and Bradford streets, remains at large as of noon today. Dominick DeMarra, jailed in Bristol County on a $1000 bail, pleads not guilty to a violent assault charge. Oliver reclines recovering from a hip wound at Rhode Island Hospital. Coroner Arnold has not set an inquest date.

Shower Bath To Be Moved At Linden Place Garage

The Linden Place shower bath where Raymond Clark nearly died was found to have poor ventilation and a gas heater consuming oxygen. Investigators ordered relocation to a ground floor ventilated room after a prior near fatal incident involving Cletus Hamill. Clark recovered though weak and recounts losing consciousness as he started the water.

Knights of Pythias Esquire Conferred at Burnside Lodge

At Burnside lodge No 34 Knights of Pythias a candidate received the Esquire rank. Plans were announced for the K P field day at Crescent Park next Thursday and the El Karam Temple excursion on Thursday evening Aug 24 aboard the Steam er Sagamore. The Sagamore departs 8 p m from Dwyer street wharf Providence with music and refreshments. Charles Clark serves on the arrangements committee.

Gladue and Thompson Unite in Local Wedding at St Mary’s

Frank Gladue and Miss Clara Jane Thompson were married last Saturday at 3 pm in the parochial residence of St. Mary's Church. Rev. Thomas J. Gillan officiated with Miss May Thompson as bridesmaid and George Gladue as best man. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Fred G. Thompson and the groom works as a foreman at Cranston Orsted Mills. The couple will reside in this town.

The District Nurse Miss Annie Selley records 48 cases and 244 visits for July. Fees collected total 21.45 dollars, including 14.95 from patients and 6.50 from the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

Swimming Efficiency Tests For Boys And Young Men

Dates set at Merriam Municipal Bath House over two weeks August 22 to August 31. four tests run by the Young Men's Christian Association with awards for each level. Beginners swim fifty feet for five cents, Swimmers fifty yards for ten cents, Leaders fifty and two hundred yards plus dives and back strokes with a five cent Roman gold finish button, Life Savers dive and swim events plus two releases and rescue tow with a one dollar sterling silver watch fob. Each test requires three judges and eligibility for a local award through Mr. Merriam.

Kill the Mosquitoes

George W. Millard notes a large, well drilled mosquito army in Bristol and elsewhere. He tests kerosene oil atop a water barrel, finding hundreds of mosquitoes and flies die when landing on the oil. He observes mosquito eggs hatch and proves kerosene kills young larvae, advising owner to pour kerosene on standing water to deter mosquitoes.

Ivy Guild Supper and Sale Totals Report

The Ivy Guild supper and sale held July 26 netted 328.33 with 101.00 from supper, 84.22 from candy, 71.55 from fancy and novelty, 21.02 from book, 18.29 from cake, 9.15 from grab, 9.10 from coffee, 9.00 from lemonade, and 5.00 from conundrums. Remaining platters and dishes at the Chapel can be procured by owners on Wednesday afternoons.

Auction sale of Hassett property at Fox Hill and Charles

A mortgagee's sale was held Wednesday afternoon. John A. Hassett's property at the corner of Fox Hill avenue and Charles street sold to John Perry for $1200. Auctioneer was Fred M. Straight. Perry owns the adjoining north parcel.
