The Court Street jail remains the only overnight holding facility. Police Chief Ferrara says he has not been notified.

Plans for Storione visit stir Bristol harbor welcome
A steering committee named 212 honorary com mitteemen to greet the Italian minesweeper Storione during its Bristol Harbor visit as part of Race Week. Lt Cmdr Adriano Giacchetti will be saluted at 11 a.m. Friday by Town Council President Joseph F Bruno. An 80 member crew will be entertained with a luncheon, clambake, dinner, and a Sunday crew dinner invitation. A silver coffee set and a program following lunch are planned with many committees and sponsors still sought.

The Bristol Regatta drew 122 boats with a lively display along the waterfront. About 20 small craft did not sail due to a sudden wind shift, while the Herreshoff S Class produced a three way photo finish. Belisarius led the cruising class with 1:56.10 elapsed time and 1:56:10 corrected, as fans enjoyed a warmup ahead of Narragansett Bay Regatta Week.
