State to Start 3 Harbor Projects in Bristol Harbor
The State Department of Agriculture will start three waterfront projects in Bristol Harbor this summer, funded by state and federal sources. Canvassers Bid to Reject Unsigned GOP Declarations
Four Republican declarations filed Tuesday were rejected by the Board of Canvassers Wednesday night. Three were unsigned, and one belonged to a candidate who had voted in a Democratic primary within the last 26 months. The unsigned filings included Kathryn M. Bray for reelection to the school committee, Edmund Hector Massa for the school committee, and Dr. Russell S. Bray for election to the town committee. Frank D. Baleano’s filing was invalid due to a September 1954 Democratic primary vote. Raymond A. Walker said the town committee would back the nominees and the state central committee would formally enter the names for the November elections.

State Street Slip Dredging Resumed
Dredging of State street slip began in earnest yesterday morning as Rego and Sons Construction Co. utilized favorable tides to remove decades of pinack muck. The muck will be used for fill at the town dump. A clamshell bucket loaded trucks while a bulldozer pushed debris to the slip sides. The project aims to reopen the protected harbor area for small boats and includes a planned launching ramp at the shore end.
