Scouts Readied For Fifth Annual Drum Corps Contest

Preparations are complete for the fifth annual Bristol Boy Scout Bugle and Drum Corps contest to be held Sunday afternoon at Guiteras Athletic Field after a parade. More than fifty invitations have gone to corps in Massachusetts Connecticut and Rhode Island with about twenty expected to participate. Corps arrive for registration at Scout Hall by 1 30 p m then march via Franklin Hope Church and High streets to the field for the competition led by Commander Walter C Walander of the Yankee Division Post No 26 American Legion Providence.

Bristol Man Sentenced After Guilty Plea on False Pretense

Richard J. Ford, 23, of Colfontal Hotel Bristol, pleaded guilty to obtaining money under false pretenses. Acting Judge John P Cooney sentenced him to 30 days in Providence County Jail at Sixth District Court session. Ford allegedly sold magazine subscriptions for six dollars each and then inflated checks to sixty dollars across Newport Fall River New Bedford and Providence.

Lip injury at playground affects Lucille Pacheco

Two year old Lucille Pacheco, daughter of Mr and Mrs Arthur Pacheco of 513 Wood Street, was injured yesterday afternoon at the playground after falling from a see saw. She was taken to Dr Paul Bruno's office where one stitch closed the cut lip.
