The Bristol Boy Scout Bugle and Drum Corps won two first prizes at the Connecticut Fifers and Drummers Association Field Day in Thompsonville. Thomas Foley earned top honor in junior individual drumming. One hundred nine corps competed. Bristol was the sole Rhode Island junior entrant and was praised by officials for appearance and performance. Transportation was by Salvatore Nunes, Frank O Rene, and Commissioner George R. Fish. The prize decision arrived after midnight.
