Severe Wednesday storm hits town with damage across farms and shores
A Wednesday rain and wind storm caused extensive damage in the area. Farmland corn and garden vegetables were blown over, roads washed out, and a trench cave in at Mt Hope and Wood street trapped a large Central Falls Bottling Co truck. A shore cottage at Sandy Point toppled, a power boat broke moorings, and mail service by Capt Halsey Chase faced landing difficulties while the Bristol ferry continued service.
