Colt High Pupils rehearse Oh Doctor Oh Doctor

Colt High School pupils rehearse the operetta Oh Doctor to be staged in the Colt Auditorium on May 7 and 8. Mrs. M Theresa Donovan directs with 17 named principal roles and several choruses including male Spanish and Morning Glory groups. Proceeds support the school and senior class funds.

Alumni Association Bridge a Great Success

The Bristol-Colt High School Alumni Association held its second annual bridge party at the Colt Auditorium on Friday evening. Fifty five tables were filled, prizes awarded to table winners, and proceeds will fund athletic and educational activities at Colt High School. The active committee included Margaret F Nerone chair, Marguerite Brogan, Mary M Connors, Jessie Molasky, Alice Vermette, Grace W Barrett, Edna Demers, George H Baldwin, Virginia August, Eileen D Moore, Nora F Dwyer, Charles Burke, Mary E Spooner, Annie D Sisson, Roberta Munro and William J Rinaldi as ex-officio president.

Soldiers' Home Vets Receive Gifts From Local Groups

The Soldiers' Home committee of Cumberland Post The American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary along with James F Stanton Post and its Ladies Auxiliary visited the Cumberland Soldiers' Home yesterday afternoon. Each veteran received a bag with fruit cake candy tobacco and a handkerchief. Committee members included Mrs Jessie Shaw Mrs Sarah McConnell Mrs Anne Cote Mrs Alma Ryan and Mrs Illian Connolly the latter president of James F Stanton Ladies' Auxiliary.

Congregational Men's Union Elects Officers

The Congregational Men's Union of the First Congregational Church elected officers for the coming year. Reginald Don was chosen president and Pilerton MacDonald the vice president. Nagwe Bense will serve as secretary and treasurer. Installation is planned for next Sunday evening with Rev Dr Charles E. Mehinlesv ot Providence as speaker. A committee led by Fimer S Mapes, Aage Bense and Filerton MacDonald organizes the program.

Parishes Prepare for Diocesan Charity Drive Across Town

Three local Catholic parishes organize for the annual Diocesan Charity Drive to fund Providence diocese institutions. From May 11 to 21 crews train coordinators captains and workers with St Marys and St Elizabeths leading committees and list dozens of volunteer names and roles for parish fundraising efforts.

Odd Fellows Attend Services at St Michael's Church

United Brothers Lodge No 13 and Rebekah Degree Lodge members gathered at Odd Fellow Hall and marched to St Michael's for the 12th anniversary observance. The service featured choir selections and a sermon by Rev A R Parshley with the text Take My Yoke Upon You.

The NR Bridge team from the local Co defeated two UR Rubber Co teams of Providence 10 to 6 Thursday evening. Alexander Bazelevitch and George Jacobson led one NR duo with Arthur Sampson and Thomas Johnson forming the other.

Well Known Watchman Retires After 61 Years at National Rubber

Owen Hughes, longtime watchman at the National India Rubber Company plant, retires May 1 after 61 years of service begun in 1870. Born 1858 in New York City, he also worked in clothing and shoe departments, with a 24 year watchman tenure, and leaves a large family including several clergymen and professionals.

112th Anniversary and Past Grands Night at Odd Fellows Hall

United Brothers Lodge No 13 marks the 112th anniversary of Odd Fellowship with the birthday of the order by Thomas Wieldly. Past Grands will occupy lodge offices, supported by the District Deputy Grand Master from Rhode Island. A 50 year member will receive the fifth-year jewel amid an entertainment by the Silverman Agency Providence, followed by a banquet in the hall.

Miss Helen Butler of the New England Dairy and Food Council spoke to pupils and teachers Friday afternoon on the importance of food and dairy products. The Reynolds Byfield Walley and Olver schools heard her in Reynolds auditorium, while the Gutteras school attended an illustrated talk in its auditorium.

World Wide Guild Presents Two Comedies at First Baptist Church

The World Wide Guild staged The Wrong Baby and A Lady Comes to Call at the First Baptist vestry on Friday evening. The program included cast readings, soprano solos by Mrs Joseph Alger, songs by the Upside Down Chorus, and home made candy sales, to entertain attendees.
