Fire destroys barn on Mt Hope Avenue estate

A large barn on Mt Hope Avenue belonging to Mrs. Russell D. Bullock’s estate was destroyed by a fire of unknown origin about 10 am. Firemen struggled without a local water system, saving one hack but burning another, with total loss estimated between 4 000 and 5 000 dollars plus minor nearby damages.

Bristol Mothers Club presents A Musical Bouquet at High School

Under Bristol Mothers Club, local teachers stage a two act comedy A Musical Bouquet in the High School auditorium Thursday at 8 PM. A nine piece High School orchestra precedes the performance with a brief program of Blossom family sketches featuring Elizabeth W Clowes John Quill Blossom Coral Hill and others. Married in Japan Henry Barton and Mary Emily Aplin wed in Yokohama

Mr and Mrs Henry Barton announce the marriage of their son Henry Barton of Antung China to Miss Mary Emily Aplin of New York in Yokohama. Barton, a World War II? veteran, served with the Field Artillery in 1917 18 and is employed by Standard Oil in Antung. The couple will honeymoon in Japan then return to Antung.

St. Michael's Brotherhood Attends Evening Meeting

A large crowd gathered for St. Michael's Brotherhood at the chapel of St. Michael's Church last evening. A three reel film titled Speeding the Spoken Word featuring telephone uses was described by Mildred MacDonald from Warren. Banjo solos by E. E. Wilkinson and Glee Club numbers provided music, new members were admitted, and refreshments followed.

Water Rates Discussed by Bristol and Warren Councils

Joint Bristol and Warren meetings in Warren assessed the Bristol and Warren Water Company installing electric power at pumping and filtration plants to save fuel and labor. Attorneys and town officials reviewed options and deferred action until around July first when the company can report potential savings and impact on rates.

Parents Night Observed by Bristol Scout Troops

Troops 1 and 2 of Bristol host Parents Night at the Artillery Armory tomorrow at 8 PM with speakers Thomas F. McDonnell George Gross and Harold Williams. Scouts report 7 30 sharp for a program including demonstrations and an inspection for parents and friends.

Gifford McGovern Wedding At St Marys Church

Elizabeth Catherine McGovern and Harold William Gifford were married by Rev. Thomas J. Gillan at St Marys Church. The ceremony featured Miss Veronica McGovern and William T. Burke as attendants, with a breakfast at the bride’s home on Lincoln Avenue. They plan a trip to New York Atlantic City and Springfield before settling at 675 Hope Street. The bride works as head stenographer at the National India Rubber Company and the groom, a World War II veteran, is an assistant foreman at the NIR Co.
