Second Performance of Chimes of Normandy Impresses larger audience

The second performance of the operetta Chimes of Normandy was held Friday evening in the Guvuileras auditorium before a larger crowd than Thursday. The cast chorus and orchestra received strong applause at solos and scene ends, showing the audience’s appreciation for a very fine display under Mrs. Donovan’s capable direction.

Fifth District Court Docket Before Judge Lindemuth

In yesterday’s Fifth District Court session Judge Benjamin F Lindemuth oversaw three criminal cases two traffic violations and two civil matters. Leo Sylvia of North Providence faced a continued DUI charge on Metacom Avenue. Joseph Baptista and Louis Alexandre were fined for sidewalk driving and overnight parking respectively. Civil actions Magnuson Products Corp vs Gardner West awarded the plaintiff $1658 and costs while National Wholesale Confectioners vs Herman J Kemph remained unanswered and continued one week.

Baptist Church Plans Prayer Meeting and Guild Dress Rehearsal

The regular mid week prayer and fellowship meeting will be held tomorrow evening in the vestry at 7 30 oclock. Following that meeting there will be a dress rehearsal of the entertainment to be presented Friday evening by the World Wide Guild.

Bristol Man Fined in U S Court for Possessing a Still

Elizur Baptista of 14 Borden Avenue pled guilty in U S District Court Providence to possessing a still and liquor at his home after a raid on October 25. He was fined and placed on six months probation and given six months to pay the fine.

Local archers post high scores at Newton Club tourney

Charles R Beals and Eugene Heibecker Jr attended Newton Archery Club yearly spring event. Heibecker won junior shoot with 350 and 464 in double Junior American round. Beals placed sixth on senior list with 464 and 480 in double American. Seven juniors and sixty nine seniors competed.

White Oaks Win From Sluggers 7 4

The Oaks defeated the Mt Hope Sluggers 7 to 4 on the common. Sylvia pitched well for the Sluggers with 22 strikeouts, while Hanatow fanned 15 for the Oaks. Eight hits for Mt Hope. one homer by Whites Mello. Notable plays included Pete Accard’s running catch and C Mans’s shoe-top grab. Rego and Massa led Sluggers at the plate.

Marin Perry Serpa Injured in Runaway and Ambulance Crash

Marion Perry Serpa a 55 year old De Wolf avenue resident was injured in two vehicular accidents on Sunday. A runaway horse-drawn milk wagon on Metacom avenue threw him and two others. While en route to St Joseph's Hospital in a Colt Memorial Ambulance the ambulance collided with Miss Elizabeth Vaughn's sedan on County Road Barrington injuring Serpa and shaking the party.
