Mary Atkinson Tent installs guard at meeting

Mary Atkinson Tent Daughters of Union Veterans held a ceremony at G A R Hall on State Street. Minnie Cleland was installed as State Department Guard with officers Anna Brelsford and others also installed. Five national flags were presented by members including Susan Sheple, Williamson, Wheaton, Boyle and Cleland with a Bible presented by Agnes Richardson. Refreshments followed.

Miss Mary Leah Josephine Desrosiers of 42 Beach Road wed Harry Whitham Corbett Stubbs of 79 Cedar Street Riverside. Vagrancy case against John Noble is dismissed

Judge Frank H Hammill discontinued the vagrancy case yesterday morning on probation officer Connollys recommendation. Noble was arrested January 10 and placed on three months probation, with costs totaling $6.15 paid.

Automobile Hits Pole Wires Down in Fast Providence

Philp S Riley 20 Altree Street Fast Providence drove a truck that ran into a telephone pole at Wood and State streets Saturday evening. Wires were snapped and service disrupted. Riley said his foot slipped off the brake as he turned the corner. He escaped injury and the vehicle was only slightly damaged.

Peters Antonio dies after 50 years in town at 74

Antonio Peters aged 74 died at 3 o clock this morning at his home 100 Mount Hope avenue after a weeklong illness He was born in the Western Islands son of the late Joseph and Philomena Peters He worked in the calendar department of the National India Rubber Company He was a member of St Elizabeths Church Espirite Sancto Society and the Portuguese Fraternity He leaves five children Miss Mary Peters Joseph Peters Mrs Joseph Bisbang and Misses Anna M and Theresa Peters two brothers Francis and Joseph Peters in Azure Islands Funeral services are set for 8:30 am Thursday with a high mass at 9 am in St Elizabeths Church Burial will follow at St Mars Cemetery.
