Aid Director to Enroll Youths in Forest Jobs

Public Aid Director John G. Des Lauriers announced enrollments for youths ages 18 to 25 from families on the department list to join Roosevelt’s reforestation army. Bristol quota is 25. selected youths will be mobilized in Providence, trained at Fort Adams, then sent in 215 man companies to forest camps to conserve timber lands.

Council May Vote To Retain Kelley

Town Council may decide tonight in the Burnside Memorial building whether to restore Hugh F. Kelley to the permanent police force after his dismissal two weeks ago as an economy measure. Kelley had 25 years on the force including eight months as lieutenant and five years eight months as chief, with ten years as a reserve officer prior to joining.

Couple Celebrates Golden Wedding at St Marys Church

Mr and Mrs Owen Hughes of 37 Franklin Street celebrated their Golden Wedding with a solemn high mass at St Marys Church. Officiating were their sons Rev Eugene Vo Hughes and Rev Edward V Hughes with deacon Rev Thomas J Gillan and assistant Rev Milton King. Fourth Annual Rotary Frolic Voted Great Success

A large Bristol crowd praised the fourth annual Rotary Frolic at the Bristol Casino. Proceeds support the Rotary Club Scholarship Fund. Decorations featured pink elephants and festive novelties, with Phoebe the African elephant entertaining guests. Bonnet Shores Orchestra provided music, and the organizing committee included Gale Getchelt and Col. Samuel Hall.
