GOP Women Hear Talk On Republican Issues for 1952

The Bristol Women's Republican Club at Miss Viola Palmer's 262 Hope Street heard George D Beals of the Republican State Committee discuss "Republican Issues for 1952." Town reps to the Crown Hotel event in Providence on May 10 include Mrs Earle Sturdevant, Mrs Edith Earle, and Mrs Sidney Herreshoff. A food sale at Narragansett Electric Shop on May 25 from 1 to 4 pm is planned, with Miss Palmer and Mrs J Floyd Huestis as sale committee.

Ennis Bisbano in Fair Condition After Barrington Crash

Ennis Bisbano 20 son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Bisbano of 49 Richmond Street Barrington is in fair condition at Rhode Island hospital after a Sunday crash on County Road Barrington. He suffered jaw fractures and lost some teeth when his car struck a tree. he was briefly on the critical list. Dr Arcadio Giura treated him at the scene and he was taken to the hospital by Sessick Memorial ambulance.

Mothers Club Of St. Mary's Plans Banquet

The Mothers Club of St. Marys announced a banquet at Midway Steak and Lobster House led by president Mrs Arthur Casse. A First Communion breakfast is set for May 20 in the church auditorium with Mrs Moses Moore chairing the breakfast, and a nominating committee including Mrs Joseph Cavallaro, Mrs Anthony Medeiros, and Mrs David Ferris will prepare the officers slate.

Revere Bell of St Michael's To Ring On Patriots Day

St Michael's Episcopal Church will ring the Paul Revere bell on Patriots Day April 19 as part of a patriotic commemoration. The bell, cast 1792 to 1828 by Paul Revere and son Joseph, is sought by the Paul Revere Memorial Association to locate all remaining ringable bells for a noon nationwide bell ringing on the day marking Paul Revere's ride and the Battle of Lexington.

School Officials Protest Slashes In Their Budget

Bristol School Committee leaders Vin cent Saviano and Edward J. Fitzgerald urge that salaries be spared to keep operations viable as the Budget Committee proposes 304 745 for the school department, $19 900 less than the 324 645 requested. The plan omits funding for four additional specialists in reading speech and physical education and calls for $12 400 earmarked for that purpose. Cont on Page 4.

The Bristol County Daughters of the American Revolution sends Miss Coral Hill and Mrs Frederick Martin of Martin Hall to the Continental Congress in Washington D C. Mrs Malcolm W MacNaught regent of Bristol County DAR traveled with Miss Hill from Newark. At the April Bristol Chapter meeting Miss Mary Louise Adams received the Good Citizenship Pilgrim award and a Cub Scout flag was approved for the West Barrington Cub Scout pack.

Paper Collection For Drum Corps Continued Throughout This Week

The Drum Corps Committee of Kearney Post No 6 Ameri can Legion ran a town wide salvage drive for the junior drum corps equipment fund. Trucks started from Scout Hall at 10 30 a m and were donated by local entities. Members and coordinators oversaw basing assigning personnel and collecting materials. More paper may be picked up later in the week by calling 1069 WK or 910 with name and address.

Bristol Community Concert Association Launches Annual Campaign

The Bristol Community Concert Association opened its yearly membership drive with a dinner at the Midway House. President Arthur H. Eastman received a parting gift from incoming president James A. McKenna as 40 campaign workers gathered. Mrs Earl G Sturdevant leads the drive aiming for 500 members with community concert reps from New York present. Campaign HQ will be at Bristol County Water Co on Hope Street with morning and afternoon hours and the Bristol 1303 line for contact.

Class In First Aid Completes 10 Week Course

A 10 week Red Cross first aid course led by Miss Mary Elizabeth Vermette has concluded with exams. Those passing include Mrs Joseph DuPont Mrs Max Phenes Mrs T Thomas Balzano Mrs Alfred E Newton Mrs James Foster Mrs John Borges and Mrs John Egan. The course began in January.

New England Telephone and Telegraph awarded a diamond 35 year service pin to John F Shaw of Ferry Road at a White Rail Riding Club ceremony. Shaw retired as Bristol County office manager and is on leave to June 30. a May 29 fete at Stone Bridge Inn, Tiverton will honor him further.

Planning Board Recommends $18,000 For Town Revaluation
