The Rhode Island World Affairs Council branch will host Dr Alfred de Grasia at 8 pm April 18 in the Y M C A. He has taught at Northwestern and the University of Minnesota and is an associate professor at Brown University with lectures at Columbia. The branch president noted strong attendance at the last meeting and that a single $5 membership allows bringing a guest to most meetings.

Plans Made For Awards Court Of Girl Scouts
The Girl Scout Council met at Mrs Thomas D Adams home and set plans for the Court of Awards at Colt High School in May. Mrs John Egan and Mrs Joseph DuPont named to head the court committee. Camp Hoffman registrations begin next month. Mrs Adams presided in Mrs Floyd Huestis absence. Delegates to the national convention in Boston were chosen: Mrs Anthony DuPont and Mrs Earl G Sturdevant.

The budget committee slashed 111 569 91 from the departments requests leaving 523 393 28 to be raised by tax. Seven proposals appear in the call for the April 23 meeting including social security expansion and funds for workers compensation and civilian defense.
