Sgt John Romano Arrives at Welch Convalescent Center

Sgt John F. Romano formerly of 711 Hope Street Bristol Rhode Island has arrived at Welch Convalescent Center in Daytona Beach Florida for a planned reconditioning program to speed recovery after 13 months in the European theater His father is Luigi Romano He entered the Army in March 1942 and is a Purple Heart recipient He has three brothers in the Army and one in the US Navy.

Bristol Water Mains Begin Spring Cleaning Tonight

Bristol County Water Co workers began flushing mains last evening at nine o clock. Manager William H. Streit said work would run from 9 pm to 4 am to minimize inconvenience. Water may appear discolored in the morning but should clear quickly. If not cleared within 24 hours, notify the company.

Judge Hartigan to Speak at Callan Memorial Service

Judge John P. Hartigan of the U S District Court will deliver the principal address at Brig Gen Luke H Callan memorial exercises. The event, under Kearney Post 6 American Legion, occurs Sunday May 20. Hartigan is a former Department Commander of the American Legion and former Exalted Ruler of Providence Lodge 14 BPOE.

Pfc Anthony Cirillo Wounded in Action February 24

War Department reports Private first class Anthony Cirillo husband of Mrs Stasia Cirillo of Pawtucket Rhode Island was slightly wounded in his left hand on February 24. Son of Mr and Mrs Gaetano Cirillo of 411 High Street he is 28 and has a two year old son Ronald. He has been in the Army since January 1944 and overseas since last July. He attended Colt Memorial High School and worked in textile before enlisting.

Pfc Daniel Moniz Receives Oak Leaf Cluster to Purple Heart

Pvt Daniel Moniz son of Joseph Moniz of 29 Richmond Street Bristol Rhode Island has been awarded the Oak Leaf Cluster to his Purple Heart for wounds suffered January 10 while serving with the 43rd Infantry Winged Victory Division on Luzon Philippines. During 30 months overseas the division took part in campaigns including Guadacanal the Northern Solomons New Guinea and Luzon.
