Bristol Girl Scout Council announced a meeting next Friday for all members aged 14 and over at the Girl Scout House High Street at 7 30 pm. The session will discuss fields of interest and steps toward forming a senior troop as the new three level program rolls out.
Rotarians will host a Monday night Frolic at the Bristol Casino with Mr. and Mrs. Rotarian and guests assembling for an evening of entertainment. Al Rosen and his orchestra will play and a floor show is planned with novelty items and noise-makers. Committee members include Stephen W. Hopkins, William Pinch, and Anthony J. Ferrara.
A committee appointed by Chairman Robert S Kelly at the Bristol County Betterment Group meeting will study county wide Clean-Up Week plans. The group includes Jo Duffs Gen LooH Callan Poluwe A okerrara Warren De Stephano Romeo Asselin Manuel P da Rosa Jarrington Henry AM Sessions Robert Possner Win W Turner. A Teuisset water service extension was discussed and a committee including Albert Ratier John My Pike and Wo Vincent Sumpter was formed to confer with G Guy Morrow on extending mains and costs.
The Bristol County Betterment Group urged Rhode Island senators and representatives to seek at least a postponement of the proposed reciprocal trade treaty with England. They warn lowered textile tariffs could worsen unemployment and harm Bristol County by favoring foreign production over American labor.
Raymond L. Davis a 31 year old former U S Army corporal was found dead in Col Merton A Cheesman s cottage at the Colt estate Pappasquash death attributed to natural causes by Dr John A Mellone medical inspector Funeral services are planned for Monday morning at St Michael s Church Davis was born December 12 1905 in Providence He lived with an aunt in Bristol and had been discharged from the army about a year ago after a three year tour in Honolulu He is survived by his grandmother Mrs Elizabeth A Cole Providence and other relatives Col Cheesman reported the death to police and Dr Mellone confirmed the cause of death
William Wennerstrand 76 a Bristol resident for over 20 years died at 7 this morning at his home 2 Central Street after a four week illness He was born at sea near Finland June 5 1861 to Capt Frederick and Charlotte Wennerstrand A widow he leaves two daughters Mrs John Stewart and Mass Violet Wennerstrand both of Bristol and a son Walter Wennerstrand of Sanford Maine The funeral will be 10 30 Monday at Wolock with a service at 11 00 at St Michael s Church Rev Dr Anthons Ro Parsh offi ciating Burial will be in North Cemetery
The Sisterhood of the Agudas Achim Synagogue announces installation of Mrs Max Bo Grossman as president and officers on May 10 at the synagogue. Other officers include Eva Makowsky, Ruth Deutsch, Rhoda Levy, Paul Kesslen, Harry Berk, Rudolph Rassing, and board trustees Samuel Brown Naroditsky Bernard Phillips Samuel Tallman Morris Finger. A bridge event is planned for May 26 with arrangements led by Harry Berk Evelyn Phillips Rudolph Bassing Bernard Phillips and Lillian Phenes.
Hope Circle Daughters of Isabella will hold a food sale tomorrow at the store on Hope Street formerly occupied by the Western Union Telegraph Company. Foods and novelties will be offered for sale with committee in charge including Mrs Bertha M Dwyer chairwoman and several named members.
