Bristol School Panel Reduces Spring Recess and Sets Early Graduation

Bristol public schools move spring recess up for all but senior high. Graduation remains set for June with senior high closing a week early. The board approved staff raises and purchases including sewing machines and dining ware for home ec, traffic signs, and bus stop policy for nonpublic pupils.

Red Cross Bridge Fund Tables Sold For Beach Wagon Drive

Car Owners Urged to Turn in Old License Plates

Frederick A. Young announces a statewide license plate collection drive to aid war efforts. Old plates will be taken to neighborhood garages and filling stations with oil companies and the RI Salvage Committee coordinating pickup and transport to scrap metal dealers.

Annual Gym Exhibit At Bristol Senior High Friday Eve

The Bristol Senior High School hosts its third annual gym exhibit Friday evening at 7 45 in Andrews gymnasium. Archie P Allen and Miss Natalie Daisley oversee a program featuring posture exercises for junior girls heavy apparatus tumbling pyramids rhythmics for sophomores and entertainment including co recrea tional volley ball and square dancing. The event closes with boys gym team tableaus as Miss Joan Dovile and Farl Rounds present music.

Evacuation registration extended for Bristol children

A two day effort in Bristol produced 985 numbered evacuee children from a danger zone near Herreshoff Mfg Co and Mount Hope Bridge. Officials scheduled a third day at Reynolds School Thursday from 2 to 3 pm and 7 to 8 pm for those who missed earlier registration.

Dr Samuel D Clark of this town presided Saturday evening at the 75th annual convention banquet in Boston by the Y M C A s of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Bristol High School training praised by two former students now in Army Air Corps

Letters from Alfred Sousa and Anthony Roderick of Bristol Senior High School praise the mechanics shop, shop math, and general course work that prepared them for Air Corps training at Fort Devens and Keesler Field Mississippi. Fourth of July 1918 Parade Highlights and War Spirit

The town celebrated Independence Day with a war themed program led by Col Harold J. Gross and Sen. LeBaron Colt. A 377 star service flag carried by 12 girls and raised as the National Anthem played symbolized wartime unity. Arlington-like floats featured Red Cross scenes, veterans, and khaki soldiers, with racing events and a Bristol baseball defeat by Fort Wetherill troops 4 to 2.

The Bristol Bugle and Drum Corps reorganized for 1942 naming Frank O Rene as chair, Salvator Massano treasurer, Charles C Mello secretary, George R Fish manager, with new drum major Walter Machado and instructor Norman Rene.
