Town Council appoints Lindemuth Town Solicitor at special session

In a special meeting last Thursday Benjamin F. Lindemuth was named Town Solicitor at a $700 yearly salary with no opposing nomination. Recreation commission vacancies were discussed and Edwin S. Godfrey seeks a tavern license for the Bristol Casino, which was granted, along with another license at Hotel Belvedere. Victualling licenses renewals were approved for multiple holders on Wood, Franklin, State, Thames, and High streets. Rental on the Davis Wilson property on Metacom avenue was raised to $240 per year. A new transport route excluded Franklin street station. council authorized travel over Franklin to the depot and along Thames to the main road. Town treasurer authorized to renew a gravel note and borrow $30,000. Burial lot care funds records were received. Lower Ready Fire baseball team seeks common use passes for several days. written petitions to follow.

Fifth District Court Hears Gordon Non-Support Plea

Richard Gordon a former Warren clerk who disappeared two weeks ago and enlisted at Fort Strong Boston pleaded not guilty to non-support. The case was continued to May 17 on army recommendation with $1000 bail posted by Mrs Robers of Warren. Three youths were before juvenile court for larceny from a bakery employee, with sentences including reform school time. A dog cruelty case against Joseph Souza was continued a week, and civil suits Bristol Shoe Co vs Fusco and Almenda/Correira vs Morris proceeded.
