Town Council Meeting Chooses Officers and Approves Road Plan

At Tuesday evening’s semi monthly session John Grabert was re elected Chief of the Fire Department with a salary rise from 75 to 125 dollars per year. Several assistant engineers and other town officers were elected or re elected and the Callan Construction Company gravel bid accepted. Gooding avenue to be first paved under a 40000 dollar town appropriation, with a concrete sidewalk planned near Colt Memorial High School.

Bristol Train of Artillery Elects Officers at Annual Meeting

The Bristol Train of Artillery held its regular monthly meeting at the Armory on State Street with routine business. Col Merton A Cheesman was re elected Colonel and officers for Lt Col Captain and Major were chosen without opposition. Various staff appointments were made including Sutcliffe as Adjutant and Rev Anson B Howard as Chaplain. Company A and B elected officers and future camp plans were discussed.

Salvation Army Drive Set For April in Town

The Salvation Army drive runs April 19 through 26 led by Adjutant John Strain and C B Rodway with Providence Home Service, aided by local workers. The Silver Band of Providence, 25 pieces, performs April 19 programs and April 20 mass meeting at Pastime Theatre. From April 21 canvassing for subscriptions and April 26 tag day by local young ladies. C T Sherman is local treasurer.
