On Wednesday a major DoD realignment reshapes the National Guard infantry divisions for atomic warfare. The town gains Battery B of the new 2nd Howitzer Battalion alongside Battery C of the 2nd Missile Battalion. Battery C holds 93 officers and men, Battery B about 48. The 2nd Howitzer Battalion traces to the Providence Horse Guards in 1842 with several redesignations through 1917 and 1942.
