Governors seek to apply bank notes to Bethlem Charity
The Governors of Bethlem Hospital plan to use two gold bank notes given in gratitude and public commemorations set for April 2 1789. A profane caricature appeared yesterday under a party banner mocking the royal solemnity stirring public resentment. In Swallow Street a poor Irish milliner Ermes is noted. Sessions at the Old Bailey began with a capital conviction. No business at the Stock Exchange today.

Marriages and deaths in Bath and Bristol notices
A long, mixed list reports marriages in Bath and Stoke, deaths in Bristol and Birmingham, and local events. It notes Mr Thomias Street’s son, Mr James of the Circulating Library, and Miss Het in Gloucester Street, plus a fatality at a quayside. Also mentions a dray accident, a Common Council election, and a strong stance against abolition and Corn Bill. Public thanks, church processions, and a railroad-like tunnel opening near Cirencester are included along with pricing at Hereford fair and a note from Carmarthen. Washington named president in New York.
