Pep club organized at H and S builds school spirit

A November 12 pep club kickoff at H and S drew fifty student signups and elected officers led by senior Andy Hauk and junior Karen Mulvaney. The group planned for Tuesday’s game against Williamsfield as American Education Week highlighted visits and turnout at Brimfield area high schools.

Brimfield Defeats Laura In Friday Night Matchup

Brimfield rolled to a 43 to 4 victory over Laura as Powers twin Richard showed standout play, while N Cecil led Laura with 24 points but her team fell short. Referees H Battell and R King officiated the game.

Brimfield Indians defeated Bulltown 50 to 47 in a tight season opener. Early leads favored Bulltown, but Brimfield rallied through the third quarter and edged ahead late in the fourth with 1:14 remaining to secure the win.

Charles Nickolls Funeral Services Reported

Charles Nickolls aged 57 died Tuesday at his sister Nellie Nickolls home. Funeral services were held Friday in Princeville with burial at Jubilee Cemetery. Born September 27 1865 in Newton Tracy England he came to the United States at age four. He married Grace Chamberlain at Robin's neat farm in Jubilee. she preceded him in death. Survived by sister Nellie and several nieces and nephews.

George Pursell Passes Away in East St. Louis Hospital

George Pursell aged 50 died November 16 in an East St. Louis hospital after a several months illness. He was the son of Harry E. Pursell of Kewanee and lived in Kewanee about ten years ago before moving to East St. Louis with his wife and daughter. He is survived by his wife, daughter, two sisters, a brother, and his father.

Walter Bowman Found Dead Near Beardstown

Walter Bowman aged 47 who had recently moved into the Pat Bennett house seats area was found dead in his car near Beardstown last week. It is described as a likely death in the parking area with no immediate signs of foul play. Local authorities are investigating the incident and awaiting autopsy results.

Maher Family Sets Course From Peoria To Japan

Mrs Fred Maher and Freddie of Kickapoo left Peoria on Saturday for Los Angeles then to Japan to join her husband Set Fred Mahe, who has lived there the past year. Keim will return to the United States to complete his army career.
