Millbrook Grange held a June 18 meeting with a Flag Day program. Youth performers and speakers from the FFA described membership, projects, creed, emblem, charter history, and the National Vocational Education Act. Attendee praise followed readings, music, and notes on the community service drive for eye glasses and the fire district project.
A letter from Jo Serra argues the new government has two capable leaders and an active Hoover-led task force reducing waste. Kenneth McKinney of Peoria joined Mr and Mrs Charles Tom in London with Mrs James Kemper accompanying Mrs Robert Wasson of Brimfield to Peoria. Mrs Ece Brown, a surgical patient at Methodial hospital in Peoria, is mentioned. Bidney Webster returned home from Fort Leonora Wood, Mo after discharge from the Army. Mr and Mrs John Albert Hufendick enjoy a two week vacation at home. Hugh Bowman of Brimfield and Norma Cook of Los Angeles called on Mr and Mrs Hastey Reca. Mrs Griff Underwood and children visit her parents Mr and Mrs Tom Miller. Mr and Mrs Wm Jones with Tommie and Mr and Mrs Donald Miller and Sandra Joe dine together. Mr and Mrs Frank Haana, formerly of Houston, Texas, called on Idra Holson Futcell. they are visiting her mother Lewis Wasserbacher at Lafayette en route to Washington and Bellingham.
Brimfield Town team won Sunday night at Toulon and lost Tuesday night. They were 12 to 0 to Farm Bureau 35s in a five inning game. Next Sunday they face Lafayette and Club 34 at Kewanee, while Brimfield and Lafayette play here. Games are scheduled on Tuesdays and Fridays under the flights.
French Grove Misa Ruth Cobb of Buffton Indiana visited Mrs Wa Kellogg and family for dinner. Kelloggs drove to Syracuse to see Zimmerman relatives. Eleanor Shaffer spent a week at Epworth Park with Elmwood Presbyterian campers. The Improvement Society hosts a guest day and silent auction at Mrs Isabelle Doubet’s home. Members attended Ora Gerriott memorial services at Elmwood. Reed Shaffer and Jack Kellogg joined a recital by Miss McCowan’s pupils in Brimfield.
Results show Brimfield teams posting losses and wins across divisions with Laura and Doulap facing Brimfield, and Wiafield edging Brimfield in a 6 to 3 junior league contest. Substantial activity marks a busy period for the Brimfield league.
Miss Ora Jennie Herriott died at her home in Elmwood on Friday after a long illness. Born in Brimfield, she lived most of her life in the Elmwood area, 44 years in Elmwood. She was a nurse graduate from Cottage Hospital School of Nursing in Galesburg and practiced as long as able. Surviving: brother Lowe Herriott of Elmwood, sister Besse Stetzer of Waterloo, IA, and a niece and nephew. Funeral services were Sunday at Patterson Funeral Home and burial in Prineville Cemetery.
Mrs T J Foley reports the death of her husband Dr P J Foley at home in San Diego California on May 8. He practiced gynecology in Brimfield for ten years and after leaving Brimfield with his wife they lived in Maquoketa Iowa for thirty two years. Dr Foley retired in 1952 and moved to California to be near their son Lorimer Foley and family.
Jacob J. Fussner of 8445 Kemplana Ave University City Missouri died at home June 12 after a long illness Born in Creve Coeur Missouri April 12 1882 he was the son of Frank and Sophia Fussner who preceded him in death He moved to the community in 1933 and lived there about 20 years before returning to Missouri Services were held June 15 at 8 30 a m from Banmans Bros Funeral Rome Overland to St Patrick s Catholic Church University City Interment at St Monica s Cemetery Creve Coeur He was survived by his wife Frances Klingert Fussner four sons Frank Jacob John and Donald three daughters Mrs Virginia Zimmerman Mrs Agneta Tietz and Mrs Henrietta Mayes seventeen grandchildren and three sisters Brothers and a sister preceded him in death One brother Joe Fussger resides in Oakville He will be remembered by many friends and relatives here.
Mr and Mrs Harry Wentz and daughter Sileen of Minneapolis with Mr and Mrs Rupert Nurse of Washburn and Mr and Mrs Max Williams of Blue Ridge called at the Fred Kratz home Monday evening.

A silver spoon marked with the initial V was misplaced at the por lock driver Sunday. any return will be appreciated by Mrs Ewalt as it is a keepsake.
