Jr Woodman Epjoy Picnic at Jubilee Park

A large crowd attended the Junior Woodmen Epjoy picnic at Jubilee Park on June 19. Twenty five children and twelve adults enjoyed wiener roast and supper, with fathers receiving candy or cigarettes. Members invited new attendees and noted charity gifts to polio, cancer, and heartland causes.

Dr and Mrs Burdon to travel in Europe on Queen Mary

Rev G P Burdon retired Trinity Methodist pastor of Terre Haute and his wife Laura Cobb sail for England on June 19 aboard the Queen Mary. Burdon will preach two months in British Isles and nearby countries then tour Belgium Germany Switzerland Italy Venice before returning to Terre Haute October 8. He was born in England and educated at several institutions, holding six degrees.

FFA Boys At Convention In Springfield Trip

Nine boys and Agriculture teacher Mr Petersen attended the FFA convention in Springfield. They left Wednesday morning and returned Friday night after two sessions daily and a final awards night. Notable speakers included Dutch Leonard Art Dick and Vernon L. Nickell. Awards went to Bob Shane Matt Maher Arlen Higgs and Bob Courtrighy. The group toured Lincoln's home swam and played golf while in town. State Officers listed: President Jim Brandt vice Donald J Church secretary Bert Fringer and others. Larry and David stayed in Washburn with the Pacey family.

A birthday gathering honors Mrs Alice Catton at the home of Mr and Mrs Will Hick on Sunday. Orville Spencer Killed in Truck Collision

Orville Spencer 34 of Sparland died in a three vehicle crash on a rural road south of Bushnell. He was pinned in a pickup after a truck overturned and sideswiped another car while attempting to pass. Survived by wife Shirley Catton, daughter Karen, stepdaughter Patricia, a sister and four brothers. Funeral at Williamsfield Methodist Church.

Mrs DeBra Funeral Held in Galesburg Ill

Funeral services for Aira Sarah C DeBra were held Saturday in Galesburg Illinois. Born April 19 1864 in Syracuse she lived with her daughter Mrs W Harvey Young since her husbands death. She died Wednesday evening after moving with her family from Syracuse to Brimfield years ago.
