At the Spring Meeting of the 16th District in Toulon on June 6, attendees included Mary Sollenberger Sue Forney Agna Moon Caroline Pacey and Silara Knight. The district contest awarded Getty Rae Harlan second place for the essay What My American Independence Means to Me worth $2.
The Brimfield 4H club hosts a bake sale on Saturday at 9 39 to fund travel for girls attending camp in Jacksonville. The sale location is Daa Waa's garage.
Laura residents hosted guests from Elmwood, Cleveland, Kewanee, and Florida over the past week. Don Webster family traveled to Denver for their son Sidney’s graduation and attended a wedding at Knoville. A Laura church reception for Rev Caulkins is planned with a covered dish supper and a slide presentation on the Holy Land by Dorothy Taylor.
Dorothy Kellogg visited Monday for several days with hometolka. Mrs Mabel Mott attended the American Region Auxiliary meeting at Toulon Thursday. Melvin Liveriy of Stronghurst spent Thursday night with Mr and Mrs W. E. Carter. Winsor Moore of Omaha and sister Mrs Paul Ratkovich of Chicago visited Saturday at the Moore home. Mrs Julia Davis Helene Carroll and Misses Margaret and Margaretta Shersail of Peoria were Callera at Mrs Verne Shaffer's home. Mr and Mrs W. Garter attended Memorial services for Mr Fred Church Saturday. Recent visitors in the Carter home were Mr and Mrs Lorem Siverly of Scronghuret, Mr and Mrs and Aariatine of Peoria, Mrs Jensie Carter and Margaretta.
Eight Cub Scouts and families joined an interesting day trip visiting Dickson Mounds Gincalu a New Salem the state capitol building and the Lincoln home and tomb in Springfield for a compact local outing with several notable historic stops.

Fred J Church born near Brimfield October 1 1872 died June 6 in Proctor hospital Peoria after one day as patient. He founded Schurchs Creamery in 1903 and Schurchs Market on North University Street later retiring in 1952. Funeral held Saturday at Davie Funeral Home with burial in Brimfield cemetery.
Martin and Phillips exchanged wedding vows in Knoxville Lutheran Church with a double ring ceremony at 3 PM. Rev Glen Anderson officiated as pal entered with bridesmaids in yellow organdy gowns and a bridal party including attendants from Galesburg and Knoxville. The couple, both alumni of Knoxville High School 1953, will reside at 1893 Grand Ave after June 16 and are employed locally, with guests traveling from Denver Colp., Yorks, Pa., and Peoria.
