Early settlers of Princeville and vicinity plan to place a memorial fountain in the grove south of the village known as Cutter's Grove. The tract was recently presented to the town by C. F. Cutter, now residing in England, with a goal to install the fountain by the Old Settler's Reunion on August 28.
A telegram opened by the hostess announced the June 18 wedding of Violet Mendenhall of Peoria and John Dungan of Brimfield. Mendenhall is a Peoria schoolteacher. Dungan, a Brimfield businessman. The couple will be at home to friends after July 1 in Brimfield.
Ephraim Heaton died Monday afternoon at the home of his brother in law Chas Kelley. The funeral was held in Union Church on Wednesday afternoon at 2 30.
In a string of local items, Memler’s advertises a June sale on men’s dress shirts and a three for two deal. Community notices list visits among residents, trips to Peoria, and attendance at events such as Catholic Daughters and undertaker convention. Also noted: farm building painting, visits to Idaville Indiana and Davenport, and several relatives visiting Peoria, Galesburg, and Minneapolis.
Weekly church schedule outlines graded Sunday School and morning worship with sermons on Fathers Day. Alice Tally leads Christian Endeavor this Sunday, June 12 hosts missionary meeting at Mrs. Carter Sr.’s home. Scout troop meets Friday, over night hike planned. church bus leaves 2:15.
On June 4 Miss Ruth Eunice Cornish married Raymond Dell, son of Mr and Mrs George Dell of Brimfield. The ceremony was conducted by Rev Paul Guelson at the Lutheran parsonage in East Peoria. The couple left for a southern honeymoon immediately after the service.
The Brimfield School Board lists the current staff including Superintendent E. L. Coberly, Ada Saddler as History, Frances Rockwell as English, Norma Efnor on Music and Sewing, and Russell on Science and Coaching. Yeas I really made a hole in one but it was merely luck.
The sermon urges believers to follow a humble Christ, not one suited to philosophy or reason, but one humiliated, despised, and crucified. It speaks of setbacks from Goil breaks, asking believers to identify personal overthrows with Christ’s crucifixion and to stand with Him from Calvary to Olivet.
The Ladies Aid will meet with Mr Hazel Collins on Thursday June 19 at 2:30 p.m. The program leaders will be Mrs Stella Kelly and Mrs Iita Hamilton. A good program is being planned. The servers will be Mesdames Marjory Tucker Peoria Minor Limie Chichester and Miss Cula Shane. OW. Newell, Pastor.
The Epworth League Contention of the Peoria District meets at Farmington on Tuesday with services from 9:30 a m to evening. A 6:00 p m banquet costs 50 cents per plate. Young people urged to attend and arrange carpools for travel next Sunday.
