George A Fail Funeral Held After Shotgun Death

Funeral services were held at Union Church for George A Fail who died at his Edwards home from shotgun wounds. The coroner's jury gave an open verdict. Born March 3, 1904 in Peoria County, he lived near Edwards most of his life and worked at Western Powder Mill. Survived by widow, twin daughters, his mother, and brother Charles Fail of Oak Hill, plus three sisters. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.

Unknown Mexican Buried Here Saturday

A Mexican about thirty, itinerant, was killed by a Santa Fe eastbound gas motor coach west of Laura Thursday at 1:30 am. A card in his pocket issued May 22 to Joe Medina by the Missouri Relief and Construction commission matched the man. Inquest held Friday. body buried Saturday in Brimfield cemetery.

William P Scanlan dies after long illness at 70

William P Scanlan 70, a well known retired farmer of Monica, died at St. Francis hospital Peoria Tuesday night May 28 after being moved there from Monica on Monday. Survived by wife and several brothers and sisters. Funeral at St Mary of the Woods Princeville Friday May 31 at 9:30 conducted by Rev J A Gordon. Burial in St Mary's cemetery Princeville.

Burrs Celebrate Thirtieth Wedding Anniversary in Galesburg

Mr and Mrs D R Burr hosted relatives and friends for a June 2 gathering at their Galesburg home celebrating their 30th anniversary. About 65 attendees enjoyed music by Lorene Pacey and Richard Strane with readings by a great niece, followed by a two course buffet. Their marriage occurred June 1905 in Bumfield, now residents of 486 North Prairie, with one son Lauren teaching at the University of California unavailable to attend.

Farm Bureau News Details Elmwood CCC Erosion Camp Plan

The Elmwood erosion camp will be one of 34 CCC camps under federal supervision to combat soil loss in Peoria and surrounding counties. Led by Farm Adviser J W Whisenand the program links the College of Agriculture University of Illinois and the U S Department of Agriculture to survey, lime, fertilize, terrace, and install check dams for soil conservation and improvement.

Baby Betty Joan Cole Dies. Funeral Held in Pontiac Church

Betty Joan Cole daughter of Mr and Mrs Claire Cole died at 139 PM on June 4 at her home. Funeral services were conducted June 5 at the Christian Church in Pontiac with burial in the local cemetery. Mrs Cole formerly Ruby Shane, daughter of Mr and Mrs Gienn Shane.

The month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Glen DeFord of Peoria died Sunday at St Francia hospital where she had been since birth. Services were held today at Patterson funeral home Elmwood with burial in St Patrick cemetery at Kockapoo. Survived by parents Glen and Esther Maher De Ford and grandparents C L De Ford Elmwood and T F Maher Brimfield.

Mrs Florence Hess Dies In Rockford Home

Florence Reed Hess died Sunday morning at her Rockford home after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday with a chapel service at Elmwood cemetery where she was buried in the family plot. Born in Elmwood, she was the elder daughter of Frank and Maude Reed. Surviving are her husband Fred Hess a son David a Northwestern University student and a sister Mrs R G Marshall of Dallas Texas who had stayed with her in recent months.

Mrs Gertrude Hayden Hayden obituary from Chillicothe

Mrs Gertrude Hayden Sherman was born November 5 1879 in Brimfield Illinois and died May 17 1935 at her Chillicothe home at age 55. Survived by husband Frank C Hayden four children Thomas Mary Robert and Pearl Hartwell sister Nettie Murray grandson Thomas Hartwell and many relatives. Memorial services were at Plymouth Congregational Church with Rev Allen Stowell officiating.

William H Bower Dies at Beardsley Minnesota

William H. Bower died at his Beardsley home Wednesday morning at 7 oclock due to heart failure and complications from old age. Born May 28, 1850 in Circleville Ohio he moved from Illinois to Minnesota in 1899. He and Martha Dawson married December 23 1875 and celebrated their golden wedding in 1925. Survived by his wife six children a 91 year old brother Peter Bower of Brimfield and many grandchildren.
