Gene Rynearson visits friends from Peoria and a Brimfield delegation attends county meeting. The Brimfield Princeville Elmwood area notes report graduation eight diplomas, flag pole, oiling, and registration day for men over 21. Weather delays corn planting with recent rains.
Eighth grade pupils will receive diplomas from County Supt. J. A Hayes at the annual commencement program on June 12 at Peoria High School. Names listed include Brimfield, Jubilee Township, Millbrook Township, and Rosefield Township graduates with numerous pupils and family connections named.
Mildred Catton and Russel Bragg were joined in marriage by Dr Walter A Briggs at the First Methodist church of Peoria on Saturday morning May 29. Bridal attire featured aqua marine lace and navy attire for Mrs Blundy who attended as a witness. The couple departed for a motor trip through Northern Illinois and Wisconsin after the ceremony.
Thirty years ago rural Peoria County farms lacked beauty with littered doorways and weed overgrowth. Today lawns are well kept with flower gardens and shrubs, reflecting pride in appearance. Farming is a lifestyle as much as a business, and beautifying homes adds value to the community.
H D Farrar of the State Natural History Survey warns army worm outbreaks across southern Illinois pose a real threat to grain crops pastures and corn in Peoria and elsewhere. Prompt control with grasshopper bait at dusk can save fields though damage may spread to northern counties within three weeks.

The French Grove Festival, dating back to 1885, returns next Thursday June 10 with strawberries, ice cream, cake, and a full program. The event features songs, readings, a program by the American Legion and Women’s Relief Corps, a moving address by Rev. David Todd, and a procession to the cemetery where the Gettysburg Address was read by Donald Hayes.

Mrs Jane Braninga Bruninga 78 a lifelong Peoria County resident died Friday at 5 30 PM at her daughter Hanna Rosenbohm s Elmwood home She was born July 27 1858 in Peoria County daughter of Meinhardt and Gretchen Cook Siefkes married to Bruno R Bruninga who died January 13 1935 Survived by three daughters Elizabeth J Ekena Grace F Drake and Hanna Rosenbohm seven sons Rudolph Miner Lewia Paul Harry and Elmer 25 grandchildren four great grandchildren Funeral services were held Tuesday at Christ Lutheran church Peoria with interment at St John s Lutheran cemetery

The Laura Winnera 4 H club met Monday evening May 31 at the Laura Grange hall. Roll call was my favorite song. Plans for a Urbana trip June 9 10 and 11 and baseball teams were discussed.
