4-H Club Officers Attend School of Instruction in Peoria

Brimfield High School Grants Diplomas to Nineteen Seniors

Seventeen seniors receive diplomas at Brimfield Township High School commencement held in the Community Building. Dr C T Wyckoff of Bradley College delivers the address on the value of education. Music by Girl's Glee Club and readings by Miss Rockwell accompany the program.

Eighth Grade Completes Work Amid School Picnic Fare

The seventh and eighth grade pupils planned a picnic for the last day of school and surprised their teacher Mrs Helen Gartanoon with a dinner at the school house. Games followed in the afternoon as they spent their final hours before vacation. Judicial Election Near On Monday In Illinois Circuit

On Monday voters in the tenth judicial circuit will elect three judges from the sitting trio of John M Niehaus a Democrat and Joseph Daily and Henry J Ingram Republicans all of Peoria. Voters should choose three judges. The same election ballots also select 50 delegates to a state convention for possible repeal of the 18th Amendment with 50 names listed for Ratification and 50 for Against Ratification. Names such as Dr. Clifford A Collins Peoria E M Bracker Galesburg and Richard Yates Springfield appear among the opponents.

French Grove community hears of the annual Strawberry ice cream and cake festival set for Thursday evening June 15 at the French Grove church. Local berries and homemade treats will be served with a lawn seating option if weather permits. Proceeds fund church repairs. donations of cake or money are welcome.

Rural School Commencement June 10 at Peoria High

About 400 eighth grade pupils in Peoria County will receive diplomas Saturday afternoon June 10 at Peoria High School. County Superintendent J A Hayes announces honors with Brimfield Township students Dorothy Weidner Roberta Bowman and Donald Sollenberger named for top averages. Lucille Zink of Elmwood and Mary Tobino of Bartonville tied for first with 95 37. Dorothy Kuntz of Laura Elmwood and Alyce Ranre of Chillicothe follow with high averages.

Southport Notes Include Casual Visits and Local Games

Mrs Frank Wickwire slipped and fractured a rib that week. Princesville visitors Fred Martiuf and family, Lindseys guests, and Mrs George White and Charlotte King from Edwards called or visited. Southport hosted a double header with Elmwood. Blue Socks won both games with Lee McCoy as umpire and Ray Martzlus pitching. Morrissey Walter Buried at Princeville

Walter Morrissey aged 79 died at his Princeville home from a heart attack after farming near Brimfield. Survived by two daughters Mary and Anna, four sons John Ft Wayne William Newark Frank Chicago Cheever Prora, sister Anastasia Peoria, brother Thomas. Funeral held Tuesday at 9:30 in St Marys of the Woods Church Princeville.

82 Miles of Free Exhibits at Fair

Chicago's World of Wonder opened May 27 at 10 00. The event features eighty two miles of exhibits in more than fifty buildings with 50 cent admission and 25 cent for children under 12. Visitors can spend on concessions and rides with prices from one cent upward. Major highways to Chicago are marked for 75 miles with guides to the exposition grounds and 12 information booths outside the loop offer hotel advice.

Mr Nichols appointed principal of the local high school after resigning as head of a Henry County school. He plans to move here soon and take the Brimfield post. Miss Norma Cora of Witt Illinois to teach English at the high school.

Come Home Memorial Day Program At Community Building

A Memorial Day program at the Community Building honored departed war heroes with Peter Bower the Civil War veteran on the platform and E V Champion the World War veteran delivering an address. Many former residents attended from Peoria Bloomington Williamsfield Washburn Urbana and other places for the supper and program.
