Brimfield Notes Reflect Prices News and Local Happenings

December 13 1868 reports local market prices for corn oats and wheat as well as butter eggs and cheese. It notes snow and cold weather fire weather driving farming work. praises a tec h cake exhibit for Brimfield Band benefit and lists honor roll pupils at the advance grade school. Local residents include Rev J R Holtz and Miss Ila McQuie with events at Zion church and Grove school. Ted Blundy returns from the English navy yard and Ira Martin leads Brimfield Transfer Co building efforts. Small paper money to be issued each July 1st.

Mrs Claude Lawrence attended a shower for Mrs Louise Goff Pratt in Victoria Friday night. Mrs Everett Barrett and daughter Jean and Mrs Hubert Barrett were Kewanee callers Friday. The Royal Neighbors held their annual banquet in the church basement Saturday night. Mr and Mrs Paul Ogle, Mr and Mrs Walt Spellman, Mr and Mrs Hoyt Lerance and son Billy spent Saturday in Galesburg. Mr and Mrs Paul Noland were called to Missouri by the death of Sara, Charles Hickman. Mrs Pearl Couch is staying with the children. Mr and Mrs Cliff Leach of Peoria were Sunday dinner guests at the James Kemper home. In the afternoon they all drove to Galensburg and called on Mr and Dru. Fred Dena.

Laura 4 H Clubs Enjoy Party

Laura Winners and Merry Makers 4 H clubs hosted a party on Monday evening December 12 with families and friends. Lois Barrett directed games as girls formed a Party a Month club. Officers elected included Charlotte Miller president Metta Lou Shaffer party chairman Ruth Aue Jaques recording secretary and Shirley Newburg treasurer. Cocoa and cookies were served. The next party will be at the Grange Hall on January 9.

Move To Organize 4-H Livestock Club

A meeting for boys, girls, and parents to organize a Brimfield 4-H Livestock Club is set for Monday evening December 19 at Walter Clark's home. The club age range is 10 to 70. The County farm bureau will finance the beet calves for club members.

Mrs Charles Beall Yirs dies at home in Jubilee township after weeks of illness. Funeral to be in Methodist church Princeville Thursday afternoon with interment in Princeville cemetery. Mrs Catherine Yess died December 9 at her sister Mary Adams home from a heart attack. Born 1841 in Jubilee township to Phillip Kellstadt she married Charles A Yesa in 1882. Seven surviving relatives and one son died earlier. funeral in Princeville Methodist Church with Rev. A A Rodger leading. Pallbearers were nephews Clarence LeRoy Raymond Julius Kellstadt Fred Adams Everett Laughlin.
